About Us

Mahogany Library Chair

We have over 30 years of experience in restoring, buying and selling antiques.

Claire’s career started in 1985, training as a restorer in Brighton and London, and subsequently having her own restoration business in Cambridge, before opening her first shop in Stamford in 1994.

This initial training underpins her knowledge and understanding of exceptional design and craftsmanship. An experience that has shaped Claire’s buying and is fundamental to the designing of her bespoke range of chairs, sofas and footstools.

19th Century English Barrel Back

We have an unwavering commitment to making the highest quality items whilst supporting traditional British craftsmanship. Over the past 30 years we have hand-picked some of the finest workshops and craftspeople in England, who have spent decades honing their rare skills. From upholsterers to paint-finishers, restorers to horologists, wood turners to blacksmiths, each producing exceptional work.

Footstool With Turned Mahogany Legs

Fast forward nearly 40 years, and we are still situated in the beautiful Georgian market town of Stamford, where we have a large shop and warehouse just 5 minutes from the A1, making it very convenient for our clients coming from London or the North.

The shop is a mix of hand-picked antiques, bespoke furniture, lighting and decorative items. We also have our ‘Garden Room’ which allows us to indulge our passion for all things garden. Urns and planters sit alongside faux and real plants.

Just across the yard from the shop, a thirty second walk, is our large 3,500 sq ft warehouse, which is open to trade and the public. It is here that we house our vast selection of period sofas and chairs, alongside our restoration and upholstery workshops.
